Oh My Fright Halloween Cat Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Happy September! I am back for the monthly team blog hop! This month our theme is Halloween Fun. If you know me, you know I love cats and have been involved in cat rescues for the past 10 years. I just recently brought home a blind kitten. He and my deaf cat have become buddies and they are adorable together. So when I saw the two cute cats in the Oh My Fright stamp set, I knew I had to use them for my Halloween card. My blind cat Radar was born blind. He lost one eye when he was 2 months old and just had his other eye removed last week at 4 months of age. The stamp image in this stamp set of the sweet cat under the witch hat looks just like him. My deaf cat Bennett, is very mischevious and loves to play pranks, so the other cat image in the stamp set is perfect representation of him. I added the sentiment “Trick or Treat” because that matches their personalities! Obviously this card was a lot of fun for me to make and one of the things I love about stamping- you can make the cards so personalized. Here is my card:

To make this card:

• Cut Timid Tiger cardstock to 8-1/2 x 5-1/2 and score at 4-1/4 for cardbase
• Cut the black swirls & stars patterned paper of Frightfully Fun Designer Series paper to 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″ and glue onto cardbase
• Cut Basic White cardstock to 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ and sponge lightly with Timid Tiger ink using a blending brush
• Stamp the two cat images in Oh My Fright Stamp Set with black ink and color with Blending Brushes. I used Balmy Blue for the white cat’s eyes to match my cat’s eyes. I used Light and Dark Smokey Slate for the cat under the hat. I colored the witch’s hat with Light and Dark Highland Heather and used just a little bit of Blackberry Bliss for the creases in the hat
• Cut out the two colored cat images with the coordinating Oh My Fright dies.
• Cut out a tree with Basic Black cardstock and the tree die of Oh My Fright Dies
• Glue the tree and the two cats on the sponge brushed panel
• Stamp the sentiment “Trick or Treat” with black ink onto scrap white cardstock and cut out with the rectangle label die in Stitched Stockings Die (it’s a perfect fit)
• Adhere the the sentiment at the top right corner with dimensionals
• Glue the sponged panel onto the card

I also decorated the inside white panel with a small strip of the same black patterend paper and stamped the sentiment “Happy Halloween”from the Oh My Fright stamp set in Timid Tiger ink.

Then of course, I had to decorate the envelope to match!

Here is a picture of the two cats this card is inspired by. Bennett is my 4 year old deaf cat. He is all white with blue eyes. He has a larger than life personality and is always up to something. He understands sign language for simple commands. Radar is my 4 month old blind kitten. He has the softest gray furr. He does not let not having eyes stop him one bit. He gets around just fine and is the sweetest little guy who loves everyone. These two love to play together and are so cute together.
