Velvet Meadow Mother’s Day Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Happy Spring! I hope everyone is doing good and ready to see our creations for this month’s team blog hop! Our theme this month is “For the Girls/Ladies”. This is the perfect time for me to get started on Mother’s Day cards. I also just received all my pre-order goodies from the May- August 2026 catalog and May Online Exclusives. This such a great perk of being a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. We can order ahead of time! One of my favorite new suites in the catalog is the Velvet Meadow Suite which has beautiful pink and green florals. The green color in this suite is the new Peaceful Pine In Color. I also wanted to highlight how you can use the catalog for inspiration in designing your cards. I knew I wanted to use this suite and make a Mother’s Day card but beyond that, I was not sure what I wanted to create. So I pulled out the catalog and browsed the sample products featured and immediately found a card I wanted to CASE (copy and share everything). I am casing the card on page 33. I’m using the same general layout but changing the sentiments and some of the accents. The catalog is such a GREAT source of inspiration! Here is my card:

To make this card:

  • Cut Thick White cardstock at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″
  • Cut patterned floral paper at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″ and glue on. (note-this paper is GORGEOUS, the tiny white baby breath flowers have a velvet texture!!)
  • Cut Bubblebath cardstockwith 8th largest Party Banner Die
  • Stamp double stem image once and larger multileaf image twice from Flowering Meadow Stamp Set with Peaceful Pine ink onto scrap Basic White and die cut with corresponding dies
  • Fussy cut the two pink flowers from the pink flower pattern paper from Velvet Meadow Specialty Designer Series Paper. Glue down the green stems and leaves ( I cut one of the leaves smaller) and then adhere the pink flowers in place with dimensionals.
  • Stamp the sentiments HAPPY, Mother’s, and DAY from Family Ties Stamp Set in Berry Burst ink onto scrap Basic White cardstock. Punch out HAPPY and DAY with the Banner Triple Punch and fussy cut around Mother’s (tip: after cleaning the Mother’s stamp, lay the stamp back down ontop of the stamped words and trace the whole stamp lightly in pencil- that will give a good template for fussy cutting. Erase any leftover pencil marks). Family Ties stamp set is now on Last Chance, so grab it if you want this one, its great for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!
  • Adhere all the sentiments with dimensionals.
  • Add 3 Berry Burst Dreamy Flowers embellishments
  • Adhere the whole banner onto the card with dimensionals

To complete the coordination, I added the same DSP to back of the envelope and stamped one of the flower images from the Flowering Meadow stamp set onto the envelope and the inside of the card.

I am in love with this suite with its velvet textured paper and cheerful colors! I also enjoyed using the new stamp pad design for the first time. I really like the new stamp pad. Its SO much easier to open. Like nothing to it. The felt is a change, and requires more tapping on the ink pad, but I like that it doesnt squish. Definitely much better, in my opinion! When you get your new catalog, don’t forget to use it for an inspiration and find some cards you want to CASE!

Changes to the Upcoming Catalog Timelines

Starting in May, Stampin’ Up! is refreshing the way they share products in print, with a new, streamlined catalog strategy designed to make shopping from their catalogs easier and more intuitive.  Instead of an annual catalog and multiple minis, they are moving to three beautifully designed catalogs per year—each one complete, current, and easy to use on its own.  No more overlapping catalogs!

Each catalog will introduce new products alongside a selection of customer-favorite staples (core products)—such as stamps, ink, paper, tools, and adhesives—bringing the feel of a mini catalog and an annual catalog together in one place.  This balanced approach creates an easy-to-shop print experience, all within a catalog released every four months:

  • January–April
  • May–August
  • September–December

These seasonal catalogs are designed to put products front and center, making it easy for you to browse, discover, and shop by product category.

New Magnetic Ink Pads – 2026-2028 In Colors!

Beginning in May 2026, Stampin’ Up! will introduce new felt ink pads in a magnetic, stackable case design.

  • In 2026, only the new In Colors will be offered in the new magnetic felt pads.
  • In 2027, all ink colors will transition to the new magnetic felt pad as part of a planned color revamp, and the current pad style will be phased out.

Importantly, existing ink pads will remain usable throughout this transition—there is no immediate need to replace what you already own. Please be aware, however, that once the transition takes place, the old ink pad design will only be available while supplies last.

The photo is an early peek at the new 2026-2028 In Colors!  And they look beautiful!!  The new Magnetic Ink Pads in the new In Colors will be available to order May 5!  The colors are a little hard to read in the image, but here they are (from left to right):

  • Crisp Cantaloupe
  • Barely Blush
  • Golden Glow
  • Peaceful Pine
  • Hydrangea Hue

I have heard that these new ink pads are much easier to open and close and I am looking forward to that!
