Cute As A Bug Picnic Birthday Card for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday! This week we have a Color Challenge:

These colors remind me of spring and they are in the Cute As A Bug Designer Series Paper. The timing of this color challenge is perfect with the month of April here! Spring and summer are my favorite seasons so I was thrilled to play with this paper and the cute bug theme! Here is my card:

The colors in this paper that are in the color challenge are Cloud Cover, Old Olive, and Blackberry Bliss.

To make this card:

• Cut Soft Seafoam cardstock at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″
• Cut red plaid pattern paper from Cute As A Bug DSP at 4 x 5-1/4″ and glue on
• Cut Soft Sea Foam cardstock with Branching Out Die
• Cut Cute As A Bug DSP page featuring the bugs having a picnic with the next smallest Branching Out Die
• Glue the picnic scene die cut panel onto the Soft Sea Foam panel, then adhered the matted panel with dimensionals
• Stamp the sentiment “Happy Birthday” from The Right Word stamp set (also available in Banner Sayings stamp set) with Real Red Ink
• Punch out the sentiment with the Banner Triple Punch and adhere with dimensionals.

For the inside, I added a small strip of the same plaid pattern on a panel of Basic White Cardstock and stamped a sentiment from The Right Word stamp set again. That one is no longer available but we have many more sentiment stamps with quite a few coming in the new catalog in May!

And of course, I had to coordinate the envelope with the card for the total package!

This card was really quick and easy to make since the DSP did the heavy work for this card. It really was just a quick layering of the papers and then adding the sentiments.

Changes to the Upcoming Catalog Timelines

Starting in May, Stampin’ Up! is refreshing the way they share products in print, with a new, streamlined catalog strategy designed to make shopping from their catalogs easier and more intuitive.  Instead of an annual catalog and multiple minis, they are moving to three beautifully designed catalogs per year—each one complete, current, and easy to use on its own.  No more overlapping catalogs!

Each catalog will introduce new products alongside a selection of customer-favorite staples (core products)—such as stamps, ink, paper, tools, and adhesives—bringing the feel of a mini catalog and an annual catalog together in one place.  This balanced approach creates an easy-to-shop print experience, all within a catalog released every four months:

• January–April
• May–August
• September–December

These seasonal catalogs are designed to put products front and center, making it easy for you to browse, discover, and shop by product category.

New Magnetic Ink Pads – 2026-2028 In Colors!

Beginning in May 2026, Stampin’ Up! will introduce new felt ink pads in a magnetic, stackable case design.

• In 2026, only the new In Colors will be offered in the new magnetic felt pads.
• In 2027, all ink colors will transition to the new magnetic felt pad as part of a planned color revamp, and the current pad style will be phased out.

Importantly, existing ink pads will remain usable throughout this transition—there is no immediate need to replace what you already own. Please be aware, however, that once the transition takes place, the old ink pad design will only be available while supplies last.

The photo is an early peek at the new 2026-2028 In Colors!  And they look beautiful!!  The new Magnetic Ink Pads in the new In Colors will be available to order May 5!  The colors are a little hard to read in the image, but here they are (from left to right):

• Crisp Cantaloupe
• Barely Blush
• Golden Glow
• Peaceful Pine
• Hydrangea Hue

I have heard that these new ink pads are much easier to open and close and I am looking forward to that!
