Easter Joy Birthday Card for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday and welcoem February! We have had a really cold January so I am thrilled to be closer to spring. This week for our Thursday Blog Hop, we have a color challenge. We are to use at least 3 of the colors below:

These colors are all in the Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper. I was not ready to make an Easter card just yet and I really needed to make more birthday cards so I combined this paper with the Simple Birthday stamp set. This paper has a glossy finish, so I decided to do silver heat embossing which really made the silver in the paper pop.

To make this card:

• Cut Balmy Blue for cardbase at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″
• Cut the front panel from the Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper at 4 x 5-1/4″
• Ink Happy Birthday sentiment from Simple Birthday with Versamark, add silver embossing powder, and heat set.
• Cut Silver Foil at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8″ for a mat behind the front DSP panel.
• Glue the double panel onto the cardbase
• Add 3 In-Color Flat Pearls for pizzazz!

For the inside of the card:

• add a small strip of the same SDSP to the right side of a Basic White Panel
• Ink the tulip image from the Easter Basket stamp set in Shy Shamrock ink and stamp in the left bottom corner
• Color the tulip with the Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends

I added the same tulip to the front of the envelope to complete the coordination.

This was a very simple and easy card to make but looks very elegant due to the silver sheen in the DSP and the silver embossing. It makes for a great spring birthday card and its already in the mail!
