Masculine Love Notes Valentines Card

Happy Thursday! This week we have a sketch challenge for our Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! This one was a litte more challenging for me- here’s our sketch:

I still had my Love Notes Designer Series Paper out from my last card. I wanted to make more cards with it. I took a look to see if I could make this sketch work with that DSP and I came up with something!! I have created a masculine Valentine’s Card with this sketch and the Love Notes DSP. Here is my card:

To make this card, I used 4 of the patterned papers in the Love Notes DSP and the Three Banner Punch. This combination gave me a red, white, and blue theme which is great for a masculine card. Here is a picture below of the items I used:

Here are the steps to making this card:

• Cut Thick White Cardstock for the cardbase at at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″.
• Cut the blue and white pattern, at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ and glue it on.
• Cut Basic White cardstock at 5-1/2 x 2″ and glue on across the card towards the bottom.
• Cut Real Red mat at 2-7/8 x 3-7/8″.
• Cut the paper with the big red heart to 2-5/8 x 3-5/8″, basically removing the white area around the heart and the pink rectangle. Glue onto the Real Red mat.
• Glue the matted heart & real red to towards the right side of the card, ontop of the horizontal white panel.
• Cut the red lines patterned paper with stripes vertical at 5-1/2 x 1-1/2′ and glue that on top.
• Cut out blue square design that says “Something Sweet for Someone Neat”. I
• Punch out the “someone neat” part with the top punch of the Three Banner Punch and save it for the inside.
• Fussy-cut the rest of that image to be mostly rectangular but allowing for the lollipops to be included.
• Adhered sentiment with lollipops with the dimensionals in the space that the sketch challenge indicated.

For the inside of the card:

• Add a thin strip of the blue patterned DSP to the bottom of the card.
• Glue the previously punched “for someone neat” in the center.
• On the paper with the hearts combined into a big heart, Punch out the “Happy Valentine’s Day” sentiment with the Three Banner Punch (middle banner)
• Sponge it with Poppy Parade ink on Blending Brushes to give it some color and glue underneath the first sentiment.
• Fussy cut out the multi-hearts that were above the sentiment in a heart shape, then sponge it with some Azure Afternoon ink using Blending Brushes again.
• Glue the heart over the 2 sentiments.

This sketch was not one of my favorites; it was challenging for me. I am happy with how this card came out. It will be a great one to give to a guy. This Love Notes DSP is seriously one of the best papers I’ve played with in a while!
