Clean & Simple Joy Card for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday!! Today’s challenge is a color challenge.. we have to use at least 3 of these colors:

I chose Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Gold for my 3 colors. Here is the card I made with these colors:

If you have been following me for a while, you already know that Clean & Simple are my favorite kind of cards to make! This one is true to my style, with a few step-ups! I used Need for Tweed Designer Series Paper, Branching Out Dies, and the Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack.

To make this card, I started with a Cherry Cobbler cardbase, cut at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″. Then I cut out the Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler tweed pattern from Need for Tweed DSP. I used the largest die from Branching Out to cut this. Then I used the next two largest dies to make a “frame” with Gold Foil Sheets. I glued this frame onto of the DSP. I wrapped this framed panel with Mossy Meadow and Gold Ribbon. To me, with the gold in the ribbon, the color is closer to Old Olive. I added a small bow on the left side with glue dots. Then I used the “Joy” sentiment from the Greetings For You Mix & Match Emphemera Pack. These are like stickers where you peel off the backing and stick it to the paper. However, I wanted to have it “pop” a little, so instead of peeling and sticking it, I did not peel it and instead I added cut up dimensionals to the back of the letters. I placed that over the ribbon. The final step was to add 3 red Traditional Sparkling Sequins. And that is it! It is a very simple card, but the gold frame, the ribbon, and the ephemera greeting give it that little bit of a step-up. That is where DSP and embellishments make the difference!

For the inside, I kept it simple with a small strip of the same DSP. I chose another sentiment from the Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. This time I did peel and stick it. So easy!

If you have not yet grabbed the Ephemera pack, I highly recommend it! It is great for a quick but gorgeous sentiment.
