Gathering Together Card for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday! We have a color challenge this week with fall colors. We are to use at least 3 of the colors below:

These colors naturally took me to the Gathering Together Specialty Designer Series Paper. This paper is so pretty, I decided I wanted to let the paper be the focal point of this card. I picked out one pattern with Early Espresso, Cajun Craze and Very Vanilla leaves. These leaves are accented with a little bit of gold. I love the touch of gold with these rich colors. Here is the card I made:

The card base is Early Espresso cut at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ & scored at 4-1/4″. The next layer is the DSP cut at 5-1/4 x 4″. I cut out a circle using one of the circle dies from Spotlight on Nature Dies with Gold Foil Paper. Rather than using a stamped image, I decided to fussy cut a leaf of each color from the paper. I adhered these leaves with dimensionals on the gold circle and glued the circle towards the left side of the card. The sentiment is from the Gathering Moments Stamp Set which is part of the same suite as the DSP. I stamped the sentiment in Cajun Craze ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock. It was cut out with one of the banner dies from Stylish Shapes Dies. I tucked the sentiment panel under the right side of the leaves and adhered it with dimensionals. The final step was to add a bow under the leaves made with the Gold Striped Mesh Ribbon. Here is a close up of the front:

For the inside of the card, I decorated a panel of Very Vanilla with a small strip of the same DSP. I also stamped another sentiment from the Gathering Moments stamp set in Cajun Craze ink.

This was a fun color challenge and I love how this card came together with this beautiful paper. I typically don’t love to fussy cut but it was fun to use the leaves from the paper for the focal image. If you are ever stumped for a card design, just let the DSP do the work for you!
