Blessed Amber Autumn Card

Hope you are having a good weekend! This weekend I am visiting my family in Dallas. This card is good timing as it reminds me I am blessed to have these family members in my life. I have already made a few cards with this Amber Autumn stamp set. I had not used this specific stamp image yet, so I pulled it out again. I knew I wanted to contrast the colorful image with a simple background. When I browsed through the Gathering Together Designer Series Paper, this one jumped out at me. From there, the rest of the card came together in my head.

The cardbase is Basic Beige cut at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ & scored at 4- 1/4″. The next panel is a 5 -1/4″ x 4″ panel of Gold Foil. The next layer is the gold, basic beige, and Crushed Curry plaid pattern from the Gathering Together Designer Series Paper. I cut that one at 5- 1/8 x 3-7/8″ and adhered that on top of the Gold Foil.

I stamped the pumpkin and squash image from the Amber Autumn stamp set in Early Espresso onto Basic White. After letting the ink dry some, I colored in the image with my Stampin Blends. I knew I wanted the squash to be Crushed Curry to match the DSP but there is not a Stampin Blend in Crushed Curry. However, I have found that if you color it first in Dark Petal Pink, then color on top of that with Dark Darling Duckling, the color blend is very similar to Crushed Curry. The other pumpkins are colored with Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze. The leaves and stems are colored with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow. The corn is colored with Darling Duckling. After coloring, I cut out this image with the corresponding die.

For the sentiment, I stamped sentiment in Early Espresso onto Basic Beige and then cut it out with a Nested Essentials Die. I then traced the outside of this same die onto Crushed Curry cardstock and fussy cut it. This allowed to have a smaller amount of Crushed Curry peeking out behind the sentiment. The sentiment was glued on, then the colored image was adhered with dimensionals. The last step was to add some Streaked Dots embellishments.

For the inside of the card, I decorate a panel of Basic White with a small strip of the same DSP.

This card was fun to make and I will be sending it to someone to let them know I feel blessed to have them in my life. I want to challenge you this weekend to send a card to someone to let them know that you are thinking of them. Sometime, such a simple gesture can mean so much to someone!

Speaking of feeling blessed by someone in my life, look who I get to hang out with this weekend! This is my dad’s little mini highland cow who is bottle fed. He is the sweetest little guy.
