Traditions of Christmas for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Its Thursday!! Time for our weekly blog hop! This week we have a sketch challenge:

I decided to use this sketch to make my first Christmas Card of the year! I read that we have exactly 15 Thursdays until Christmas so I figure it was time to get started on Christmas cards!! Here it is!

This card uses many of the products from the new Traditions of Christmas Suite. This Suite has two bundles: Traditional Labels and Christmas Greenery. Both bundles are used in this card. The suite also includes Traditions of Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper which is the background red paper in this card.

The cardbase is Shaded Spruce cardstock. I stamped the poinsettia arrangement image from Christmas Greenery twice with Tuxedo Black Ink onto Basic White. I used my Stampin’ Blends to color in the image. The colors include Shaded Spruce, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, & Petal Pink. This was cut out with the corresponding die. The sentiment is from the Traditional Labels Stamp Set. It is inked in Cherry Cobbler and cut out with one of the Traditional Labels Dies. I glued the flower arrangements onto the red DSP. Next I wrapped this panel across the center with the Shaded Spruce & Gold Edged Ribbon, securing it behind the panel with scotch tape. This ribbon is from the Elegant Pines Snowflake Suite, which is found in the new online exclusives. I adhered the sentiment panel with dimensionals across the ribbon and then glued the entire panel to the cardbase. The final step was to add gold Flower Accent Embellishment. I love the rich contrast of the red and green together with a touch of the gold from the embellishments. Like the name of the stamp set, it gives such a traditional Christmas vibe! Perfect for my first Christmas card of the year! For the inside of the card, I decorated a white panel with a small strip of the same DSP. The sentiment is from the Traditional Labels stamp set. I inked it with Cherry Cobbler. To continue with the red and green theme, I added a few pine images from the Christmas Greenery stamp set inked in Shaded Spruce.

I love this suite and know I will be using it often. I can’t wait to make some more cards with the beautiful DSP. The pattern I used in this card is one of more plain designs but the paper has many gorgeous designs with accents of gold!! The dies will be useful long past the Christmas season with their classic shapes. Definitely check out this suite for your Christmas stamping needs!
