Fluffy Squirrel for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s Thursday!! And its the last Thursday in August!! September is right around the corner!! For our last Thursday in August, we have a sketch challenge! Here is the sketch:

I had fun with this sketch! I decided to do a Fall themed Birthday card using the new Fluffy Squirrel Stamp Set and new Gathering Together Designer Series Paper. Both will be available on September 3rd. Here is the card I made using this sketch:

I just LOVE this stamp set!! And the sentiment is just so cute too! I had so much fun making this card, I was smiling and laughing while making it. Yes, I am a stampin’ dork but that’s ok, there’s worse things to be! This card is already off in the mail to the recipient, so hopefully they are getting a chuckle as well.

To make this card, I used Early Espresso cardstock for the base, cut at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, and scored at 4-1/4″. The next layer is the plaid pattern from Gathering Together Designer Series Paper cut at 5-1/4 x4″. I love the colors in it! The squirrel outline was stamped in Early Espresso ink. I inked the “filler” squirrel stamp in Early Espresso ink, stamped off once onto scrap to lighten the color, then stamped inside the squirrel. The gift boxes are inked in Cajun Craze and colored with Crushed Curry. The acorn was inked in Early Espresso and colored with Early Espresso and Cajun Craze. After stamping all the images, I cut it out with the Spotlight in Nature dies, using one the SECOND largest circles.

For the Early Espresso banner behind the circle, I used the Stylish Shapes banner die. I cut it in half and glued it behind the circle with a gap in middle. The gap was hidden by the circle. This makes the banner appear longer. I used the exact same banner die to cut out the Crushed Curry banner. The sentiment is inked in Cajun Craze. I adhered the Crushed Curry banner with dimensionals. I really liked using a double banner to pull some more of the colors from the Designer Series Paper. Plus, I felt the Crushed Curry helped to highlight the sentiment.

For the inside of the card, I decorated a 5-1/4 x 4″ Basic White with a strip of the same Designer Series paper. I also stamped gift box in Cajun Craze and the acorn in Early Espresso.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this card as much as I enjoyed making it. I love the fall colors and the cute squirrel! I will be using this stamp set often!
