Joined Together Embossing for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

It’s time for the weekly Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! I am really enjoying these challenges! This week’s challenge is to use embossing in our card.

I decided to use the Joined Together 3D Embossing Folder for my card. This folder is part of the Kintsugi Inspirations Suite. This suite is inspired by the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using gold lacquer to mend broken areas of pottery. The Japanese culture views the repair as part of the history of the object instead of trying to hide the damage. I love this philosophy and am trying to embrace it in my daily life as much as possible. I am using the idea even when making cards. Instead of seeing something as a “mistake” or an “oops” when making cards, maybe the smudge or the crookedness can be part of the beauty of the card. I will admit its a work in progress!

Here is a picture of the suite so you can see how beautiful this suite is!

and here’s the card I made using the Joined Together Embossing Folder:

To make this card I used the Celebrate Together Two Tone Cardstock pack. This one has 5 different colors in the packet: Blackberry Bliss, Cloud Cover, Daffodil Delight, Fresh Freesia, Pool Party, and Strawberry Slush. I used each color, one at a time in the embossing folder, lined up exactly the same each time. Then I gathered them together and cut along all the “cracks”. Next, I pieced the sections back together using a different color for each section. I glued it together on a panel of Basic White. I used a sanding block to gently sand the raised embossed areas of the two tone cardstocks. You can see the white areas where it has been sanded. I trimmed it all down to 5-1/8 x 3-3/4″. I applied little bit of Versamark refill onto the “cracks” and applied gold embossing powder and heat embossed it. My intention was to make it look like the gold lacquer in the Japanese pottery. I layered that onto a Gold Foil panel cut at 5-1/4 x 4″. The cardbase is Blackberry Bliss.

I stamped the tall vase image from the Inspiring Imperfections stamp set in Blackberry Bliss ink onto Basic White. The vase was cut out with the corresponding die. This was adhered to the top with dimensionals. Next I stamped just the “Thanks” portion of the sentiment and cut that out with the tape banner die cut. I adhered that on tucked just underneat the vase. Here’s a close up on the front:

For the inside of the card, I stamped small flowers on the corners of a Basic White panel with Blackberry Bliss ink.

I enjoyed the challenge of using the embossing folder and using the inspiration of kintsugi for my card! Thanks for stopping by my blog. If you have any questions about this card, email me at nicole@thesigningstamper.com. Enjoy your day and remember to embrace any mistakes today and let them be part of today’s adventures!๐ŸคŸ
