Elegant Pines Christmas Card for Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Hope you are having a good week! Happy Veteran’s Day to all who have served and their families that supported them. My husband is a retired Veteran and is enjoying his day off from his current job today. I loved being a military spouse and all the adventures (and misadventures) we had together with the Air Force.

Today is extra special because it is also the day for our monthly Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop! Our Hop theme this month is “Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays” which is fitting considering that we have 7 weeks until Christmas. It is definitely time to get in the Christmas spirit! Here is the card I made for this theme:

I used the Delicate Pines Bundle, Words for the Season dies, and Elegant Pine Snowflake Designer Series Paper for this card. The cardbase is Secret Sea cardstock, cut at 8-1/2 x 5-1/2″ & scored at 4-1/4″. The next panel is Cherry Cobbler cardstock, cut at 5-3/8 x 4-1/8″. The next panel is the dark Secret Sea pattern from Elegant Pine Snowflake Designer Series Paper cut at 5-1/8x 3-7/8″. These panels were both glued on. Next I used the Delicate Pines Bundle to stamp and cut out the various different sizes of the pine snowflake. Starting from the largest to the smallest: the largest one is Basic White cardstock stamped with Pretty Peacock ink. I sponged the edges with Secret Sea ink to tone down the brightness of the white paper. The next one is Secret Sea ink on Secret Sea cardstock. The top 2 smallest are Basic White stamped with Cherry Cobbler Ink. I used the same size stamp and die for both of these Cherry Cobbler snowflakes. The largest Pretty Peacock one was added with dimensionals to the top right corner of the card. The Secret Sea one was glued on. Then I used the Pine Needles dies (3 of them) to cut out Pine Needles with Gold Foil Paper. I cut them in half to have 6 seperate pieces. I glued these 6 pieces behind one of the Cherry Cobbler snowflakes and adhered it on top of the Secret Sea snowflake with dimensionals. I added the next Cherry Cobbler on the very top with dimensionals as well, but rotated this one so the one under was visible as well.

Next I used the Words for the Season dies to cut out “Merry” and “Christmas” out of Gold Foil sheets. I had to take extra care to not lose the tiny little gold dot for the letter “i”!! I glued these on at the bottom left of the card. The final step was to add 3 of the smallest dark red Faceted Snowflakes in the center of the snowflake.

For the inside, I stamped a panel of Basic White with the same small snowflake image in Cherry Cobbler in the top right corner. Then I glued a small strip of the same DSP at the bottom for extra decoration. I left the rest blank so I can either add a sentiment later, or have room to write a longer handwritten message.

I am happy with how this card turned out. I would not have thought of Secret Sea as a Christmas color, but this DSP convinced me otherwise. And it makes a nice backdrop to the gold words. If you have any questions about this card or any of your stamping needs, please reach out to me at nicole@thesigningstamper.com. I would love to help you! 🀟
