Gallery Blooms Pleated Birthday Card

Happy Tuesday! This past week, I have been stepping out of my comfort zone and exploring fun folds. This is when I seek inspiration from other demonstrators, which is one of things I love about the Stampin’ Up! community. Everyone encourages each other to copy and share their creations (CASE means copy and share everything). Sometimes I will design a card completely from scratch. Other times, I see a card that I love, so I case it, but add my own tweaks to it and then share. I hope my cards inspire you to CASE as well!

Today I am sharing a really awesome fun fold birthday card I made for my daughter. I saw this fun fold from Laurie at Stamp With Laurie. She made a beautiful wedding card with this fun pleated fold. My daughter loves the handmade cards I make, so each year I try to make her an especially awesome card. I think she is going to like this one! (by the time this blog posts, she will have received it, so I am not spoiling her surprise). Here is the card I made for her:

I used Gallery Blooms Designer Series paper as my daughter loves flowers and her favorite colors are green and pink/peach. This card uses Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink, and Basic Beige for the colors.

The front panel is a floral pattern from the Beautiful Gallery DSP. I colored the cream flowers on this pattern with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend to make the flowers more of pink/peach color. I cut out the Petal Pink flower with a die from Beautiful Motifs Dies. The ribbon is the Petal Pink Braided Trim. I unbraided it and then took a few strands to wrap around this DSP and added a bow. The sentiment “Birthday Wishes” is from 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar stamp set. I used my Wow! Embossing Powder in White and then punched it out with the new Three Banner Punch. This sentiment was added with dimensionals. I added 3 petal pink Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots for embellishment.

The card opens like a book. When you open the first page, the picture above is what you see. On the Petal Pink panel you see on the left side, I stamped part of the flower image from the Gallery Blooms stamp set with Mossy Meadow ink. I colored it in with Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends. The middle panel is a pattern from the Gallery Blooms DSP. I also colored the flowers on this DSP with my Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend. The Petal Pink panel on the right side is embossed with the Damask Design Embossing Folder. I cut out the Mossy Meadow leaves with a die from the Beautiful Motifs Dies. I glued that leaf cut on. The sentiment “For someone extra special” is also from 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar stamp set. It was inked in Mossy Meadow and stamped onto Basic Beige. It was cut out with die from Stylish Shapes and adhered with dimensionals. I added 2 petal pink Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots to the sentiment circle.

Above is what this card looks like opened to the “last page”. The Basic Beige panel on the left is also stamped with flower image and colored just like on the previous page. The middle panel is the same DSP with coloring as well. The Basic Beige panel on the left is cut with a die from Beautiful Motifs die- it does not cut the paper out fully, just cuts parts of it, so that the design “lifts” up. You can see a little bit of the Mossy Meadow paper underneath it. It gives the panel a really neat multi-dimensional effect. The sentiment is from Branching Out stamp set and inked in Mossy Meadow. I added the last 3 Charming Shimmer Faceted Dots here too.

When I signed my daughters card, I wrote my messages on the right side panels which face the back so that the messages remain private when the card is standing on display.

Because this card is for an extra-special person, I also decorated the envelopes on the front and back:
